Job Overview:
The position of Annual Report Designer involves creating a visually appealing and effective layout for UNFPA Eritrea's Annual Report for the year 202
  • The designer will be responsible for integrating text content, photos, and graphs into a cohesive layout that aligns with UNFPA's branding guidelines. The report aims to highlight the successes and challenges faced during the reporting year, showcasing how UNFPA's resources have contributed to advancing sexual reproductive health, gender equality, and women's empowerment in Eritrea. The designer will work closely with UNFPA to ensure that the report is not only informative but also engaging and easy to navigate for its readers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design Layout: Create a cohesive visual layout for the report that includes a cover page, table of contents, and sections for text, images, and graphs. Ensure the design aligns with the organization's branding guidelines.
  • Incorporate Content: Integrate provided text, images, and graphs into the layout, ensuring all elements are well-organized and easy to navigate.
  • Revisions: Provide up to three rounds of revisions based on feedback from the organization to ensure the final product meets expectations.
  • Final Deliverables: Deliver a print-ready PDF version of the Annual Report and an editable version (if applicable) for future updates.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with UNFPA staff to understand the key messages and themes that need to be communicated in the report.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong graphic design skills, proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or similar tools, and a keen eye for detail. Experience in designing reports or publications is highly desirable. The candidate should also have the ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Familiarity with UNFPA's mission and values is a plus, as it will help in aligning the design with the organization's objectives.

Educational Background:
A degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or proven experience in graphic design may also be considered. A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work, particularly in report design, will be essential for evaluation.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of experience in graphic design, with a focus on layout design for publications or reports. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in the development sector is an advantage, as it provides insight into the specific needs and expectations of such organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all content will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in Eritrea, would be considered a plus but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is an unpaid assignment, but a certificate will be provided upon completion. The task will be fully virtual, allowing for flexibility in working hours. The designer is expected to communicate effectively with UNFPA staff and adhere to deadlines for the completion of the report.
