Job Overview: In this part-time, maximum term position, you will be part of a dedicated team working to support families with escalating needs in Newman, Western Australia. The role involves providing early intervention and prevention services aimed at improving children's development and wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with local providers to offer holistic support to parents and caregivers, ensuring that services are tailored to the unique needs of local families. This position requires a strong understanding of children's development, parenting, and the impact of trauma, particularly in relation to Aboriginal families living in remote communities. You will report to the Team Leader and have the flexibility to choose your working days, with the option to spread your hours across five days if preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Practitioner include:
Providing early intervention and prevention services to improve children's development and wellbeing.
Collaborating with local service providers to deliver holistic support to families.
Engaging in community outreach to tailor services to local family needs.
Mentoring and coaching team members to enhance service delivery.
Utilizing a child-centered, strengths-based framework in all interactions.
Maintaining strong engagement with families, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Demonstrating innovative and creative thinking in problem-solving and service delivery.
Upholding a strong understanding of case management and family-focused approaches. 1
Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, including child safeguarding protocols.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A relevant qualification in social work, psychology, or a related field.
Strong skills in engagement with families, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Innovative and creative thinking abilities.
Sound understanding of case management and child-centered approaches.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Program monitoring and evaluation skills.
A current driver's license is essential for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a relevant qualification in social work, psychology, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of child development, family dynamics, and the impact of trauma on children and their families. Additional training or certifications related to child protection, family support, or community engagement would be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have experience working in child protection, family support, or a related field. Experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is highly desirable, as is a strong understanding of the challenges faced by families in remote areas. Previous roles should demonstrate a commitment to child-centered practices and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Languages: While English is the mandatory language for this position, proficiency in Aboriginal languages or other community languages would be considered an asset. This would enhance communication with families and improve service delivery in culturally sensitive ways.
Additional Notes: This is a part-time position, requiring 4 days of work per week, with flexibility in scheduling. The role is maximum term until the end of June 202
The organization offers an award rate salary (SCHADS 5.1, currently $49.28 per hour, with an increase in July), along with full PBI salary packaging benefits.
