Job Overview: The role is primarily focused on supporting the implementation of risk and vulnerability assessments as well as the Women, Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Index study specifically in the Luzon Region of the Philippines. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Monitoring and EvaluationProject Officer to develop a digital dashboard that will facilitate the monitoring of project outcomes and support its effective use. This position is crucial for enhancing the understanding of resilience and social cohesion within the community, and the candidate will play a key role in gathering and analyzing data that informs project strategies and interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: conducting comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessments in targeted areas, collaborating with local stakeholders to gather relevant data, assisting in the development and implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Index study, working alongside the Monitoring and Evaluation Project Officer to create and maintain a digital dashboard for project tracking, facilitating workshops and discussions with community members to promote understanding of resilience and social cohesion, preparing detailed reports on findings and recommendations based on assessments, and ensuring that all activities align with VSO’s mission and values.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in resilience building and/or social cohesion, with a particular focus on the women, peace, and security agenda. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires effective communication and collaboration with diverse groups. Strong facilitation skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports are also critical. The ideal applicant should demonstrate adaptability and resilience in the face of challenges, and a commitment to fostering positive change within communities.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in social sciences, international development, peace studies, or a related field is preferred. Additional training or certifications in monitoring and evaluation, gender studies, or community development would be advantageous.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in roles related to resilience building, social cohesion, or community development. Experience working with marginalized communities and understanding the dynamics of gender and peace issues is highly desirable. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes will also be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reporting and documentation will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Filipino or other local dialects is highly advantageous, as it will facilitate better communication with community members and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a national volunteer position, specifically open to nationals of the Philippines, as VSO is unable to provide sponsorship for this role. Volunteers will receive an allowance paid in local currency, which is intended to cover reasonable living expenses within the country, though it may not be sufficient for remittances. Accommodation provided will be basic, reflecting the organization's work with some of the poorest communities globally.
