Job Overview: The Operations Manager role at Mercy Corps Europe (MCinE) is pivotal in overseeing the operations and data protection functions within the organization. This position is responsible for leading a dedicated team that manages operational and facility management functions across various European offices, including those in the UK, The Hague, and Brussels. The Operations Manager is tasked with ensuring that the operational support provided allows team members to focus on their core activities, thereby enhancing workplace effectiveness. Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing a compliance program that aligns with the UK European General Data Protection Regulation and EU GDPR, ensuring that the organization adheres to its globally applicable data protection policy framework. The Operations Manager will report to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director of Compliance, Governance & Risk, and will collaborate closely with various departments, including IT, Finance, and People teams, while also supervising team members located in different European locations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Operations Manager will manage a small team responsible for the professional management of all MCinE operations functions, which includes facilities management in the UK (Edinburgh, London), The Hague, and Brussels. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing operational policies and procedures that align with the organization's mission, managing onsite space use strategies, conducting reviews of office space efficacy, overseeing offsite document storage and archiving management, and liaising with landlords and serviced office providers to ensure compliance with lease agreements. The role also involves ensuring that facility systems and equipment operate properly, coordinating maintenance and repairs, leading office greening initiatives, acting as the Health and Safety Officer, maintaining safety and emergency preparedness plans, and managing the data protection program, including overseeing training and handling data subject rights requests.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Operations Manager position should possess strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team effectively. They should have a solid understanding of operational management, data protection regulations, and health and safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration with various departments and external partners.
