Job Overview:
The UN News Video Producer (Spanish) is responsible for producing and versioning United Nations videos into Spanish, as well as creating original video content in Spanish. This role involves collaborating closely with the Language Unit Chief and UN Video to ensure that all video content meets the organization's standards and guidelines. The producer will create approximately 150 video versions, each ranging from 30 seconds to five minutes, translating all text and dialogue into Spanish. Additionally, the producer will film and produce up to 10 original videos, which may include interviews and B-roll footage, ensuring high-quality production that adheres to UN guidelines. The position is expected to last a maximum of six months, with a focus on delivering engaging and informative content for various platforms, including social media.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Individual Contractor shall: 1) Liaise with the relevant Unit Chief and the Chief of the Spanish Unit of UN News to plan and agree on timelines and content for videos to be versioned and produced in Spanish, utilizing diverse storytelling approaches suitable for news and social media. 2) Attend online meetings with UN Video to discuss their production schedule and identify best practices for video production and editing for digital platforms. 3) Version UN videos in Spanish, including captioning and adding graphics as required, following the instructions from UN Video and the Unit Chief. 4) Translate English video text and dialogue into Spanish. 5) Produce original videos in Spanish as commissioned, which includes filming interviews and B-roll according to UN Video's specifications. Editing, captioning, and graphic addition must also follow the guidelines provided. 6) Deliver completed videos to UN News in Spanish and UN Video using online transfer methods such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, or Google Drive. 7) Ensure that all produced videos meet broadcast quality standards, including 4K resolution and a landscape 16:9 aspect ratio. 8) Adhere to UN News/UN Video guidelines, ensuring editorial clarity and sound political judgment, while managing permissions and copyright issues, particularly concerning minors. 9) Provide references and work samples as requested.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, video, film, television, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, video, film, and television is required, with a strong emphasis on video production in Spanish. Familiarity with current technical developments and production editing techniques is essential, along with experience in international settings and a multilingual news environment being desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, video, film, television, or related areas. In cases where candidates hold a first-level university degree, they must also have two years of qualifying experience to be considered equivalent to the advanced degree. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of video production and journalism within the context of the United Nations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in video production, filming, and editing. Candidates should have well-rounded experience in multimedia production and broadcast/digital journalism, specifically in Spanish. Experience with the latest technical developments and production editing techniques is necessary, as well as experience filming and producing in international settings. Familiarity with a daily multilingual, international news environment is also desirable, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to navigate the diverse challenges of the role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory for this position, as these are the primary working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication and collaboration within the organization.

Additional Notes:
This position is located in the UN News Section of the News and Content Branch, within the News and Media Division (NMD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The UN News Video Producer will work on versioning and producing original video content in Spanish, as commissioned by the Spanish Language Unit Chief of UN News (Noticias Onu).
