The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was established to promote regional cooperation for inclusive economic and social development in the Asian and Pacific region. As a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat, ESCAP supports its member states through policy-oriented research, normative support, technical assistance, and capacity building to address the development priorities and changing needs of the region. Job Overview:
The Team Assistant position is integral to the Office of the Chief, Conference and General Services Section (CGSS) within the Division of Administration at ESCAP. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Administrative Assistant and will be responsible for a wide range of office support and administrative functions. This role requires a proactive approach to managing office tasks, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements, and providing logistical support for meetings and conferences. The Team Assistant will also be involved in data management, document preparation, and communication with various stakeholders, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong organizational and communication skills. The position demands a high level of professionalism and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Team Assistant include performing a variety of administrative tasks such as responding to routine correspondence, drafting documents, monitoring schedules, and ensuring compliance with relevant requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for generating reports, proofreading documents, providing secretarial support for meetings, maintaining calendars, and managing mail and documents. Additionally, the Team Assistant will assist in data entry, maintain electronic files and databases, and provide guidance to less experienced staff. The role also involves assisting with the collection and analysis of data, preparing presentations, and updating information materials. The Team Assistant will perform general administrative tasks, including leave and attendance recording, budget follow-up, and processing administrative requests.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of three years of required experience. The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, or general office support. Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential. Experience in client service management for cost recovery processing is desirable, as is experience with data analytics and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Familiarity with the United Nations Common System or similar international organizations is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree can substitute for three years of experience, indicating that candidates with higher education may have an advantage in the selection process. The emphasis is on practical experience in administrative roles, which complements the educational qualifications.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, or general office support. However, if the candidate holds a first-level university degree, only one year of experience is necessary. Experience in using MS Office applications is mandatory, and familiarity with client service management, data analytics, and ERP systems is considered desirable. Candidates with experience in the United Nations or similar international organizations will be viewed favorably.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's profile.
