Job Overview: The Head of Base - Log Admin Manager is responsible for overseeing the support departments for the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) team, ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of team members on the ground, and representing the organization externally as needed. This role involves coordinating logistics, finance, human resources, and security processes, as well as developing necessary tools, SOPs, policies, and guidelines for the EP&R team. The position is crucial for enhancing communication and operational efficiency, particularly in remote areas where the team is deployed for emergency responses. The Head of Base will also be tasked with assessing security situations and engaging with local actors to facilitate operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate the logistics, finance, HR, and security functions for the EP&R team.
Ensure the security of team members during deployments and maintain communication with the support coordination in Juba.
Develop and implement necessary tools, SOPs, and policies for the EP&R team.
Assess security situations and engage with local actors to ensure safe operations.
Structure the support department and improve processes and communication channels.
Train new team members and develop the capacity of existing staff.
Act as the focal point for finance, logistics, HR, and security coordination with other departments and consortium members.
Support the launching and deployment of teams in the field and plan interventions to minimize last-minute emergencies.
3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in a similar position.
Familiarity with SI processes and tools is desirable.
Experience working with emergency teams or in volatile/remote contexts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and timely across departments.
Autonomy, rigor, and critical thinking skills are essential for adapting to changing situations while maintaining a long-term strategy.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a diploma in Business Administration, International Relations, Political Sciences, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and management.
Experience: The position requires 3-4 years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on logistics and administrative management in emergency contexts. Experience in similar roles is crucial for effectively managing the diverse challenges faced in the field.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance operational effectiveness.
Additional Notes: This is a salaried position with a starting gross salary of EUR 2310 per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 700 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The organization implements a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional rest day per month worked. An insurance package is provided, covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. The living conditions in the field can be precarious, and candidates should be prepared for challenging environments. In Juba, accommodations are provided in a shared guesthouse with electricity and access to amenities.
