Job Overview: The ICT Infrastructure Expert will play a crucial role in supporting the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute (EMI) by enhancing its existing IT infrastructure and setting up new systems. The expert will be responsible for training EMI's IT team, providing maintenance for existing systems, and ensuring that all IT solutions are effectively integrated with current processes. The role also involves troubleshooting AWS network issues and supporting the observation network, which is critical for the country's climate resilience efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IT Infrastructure Expert will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including system configuration, implementation, and enhancement. This involves collaborating with EMI staff to identify IT requirements related to Linux infrastructure and network design. The expert will conduct security audits, develop security solutions, and recommend infrastructure improvements. Additionally, the expert will support the maintenance of the observation network by checking and updating station metadata, confirming technical specifications, and liaising with the WMO Regional Office for troubleshooting. Training EMI staff on new technologies and preparing regular reports on IT activities are also key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, preferably at the Master's level.
