Job Overview:
The ICT Infrastructure Expert will play a crucial role in supporting the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute (EMI) by enhancing its existing IT infrastructure and setting up new systems. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of EMI's IT systems, which are vital for climate prediction and monitoring in Ethiopia. The expert will be responsible for training EMI's IT team, providing maintenance for existing systems, and ensuring that all IT solutions are effectively integrated with current processes. The role also involves troubleshooting AWS network issues and supporting the observation network, which is critical for the country's climate resilience efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Infrastructure Expert will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including system configuration, implementation, and enhancement. This involves collaborating with EMI staff to identify IT requirements related to Linux infrastructure and network design. The expert will conduct security audits, develop security solutions, and recommend infrastructure improvements. Additionally, the expert will support the maintenance of the observation network by checking and updating station metadata, confirming technical specifications, and liaising with the WMO Regional Office for troubleshooting. Training EMI staff on new technologies and preparing regular reports on IT activities are also key responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, preferably at the Master's level. They should have strong administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">system administration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure skills, with a minimum of three years of proven experience in network administration and configuration. Experience with Linux system administration is essential, along with relevant certifications. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are also required, as well as the ability to work independently.

Educational Background:
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree. Relevant certifications in Linux server management or network administration are also necessary to demonstrate expertise in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of proven experience in network administration and configuration, with a strong background in Linux system administration. Candidates should also have experience in managing Microsoft systems and infrastructure, as well as knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
