Job Overview:
The consultancy position is situated within the Inventory Control and Accounting team, which is part of the Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU) at UNFPA. The SCMU is responsible for providing support, coordination, and oversight for all supply chain management activities related to UNFPA programs. This role is crucial in ensuring that inventory management activities are conducted effectively and in compliance with established policies and procedures. The consultant will work closely with field offices to enhance their inventory management capabilities and ensure the accuracy of inventory records. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying gaps in compliance and providing technical guidance to improve overall performance in inventory management. The consultant will also be involved in training and capacity-building initiatives to empower field offices in managing program supplies efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will have a range of responsibilities, including reviewing periodic inventory certifications for accuracy and compliance, monitoring field offices' adherence to inventory management policies, and building capacity through training and webinars. They will support the production of inventory management performance reports, highlighting risks and inefficiencies, and provide recommendations for improvements. The consultant will ensure the accuracy of information in the Shipment Tracker, assist field offices with inventory reconciliation, and provide user support for the Shipment Tracker system. Additionally, they will review requests for Shipment Tracker Focal Point rights, support accounts closure activities related to inventory management, and translate relevant documents into their proficient language. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completed Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, or a related discipline. They should have working experience in finance, particularly in data analysis and support to country offices, as well as experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools. Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure are essential. Excellent writing and communication skills are also required to effectively convey information and provide guidance to field offices.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, or Public Policy. This advanced degree is necessary to ensure that the candidate has a strong foundation in the principles of finance and management, which are critical for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant working experience in finance, particularly in roles that involve data analysis and support to country offices. Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools is considered an asset, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to manage inventory effectively and provide technical support to field offices.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNFPA. Additionally, a working knowledge of Spanish is considered a distinct advantage, as it may facilitate communication with Spanish-speaking field offices and enhance the consultant's ability to provide support.
