Job Overview:
The ICT Associate (Business Intelligence) plays a crucial role in supporting the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), and the Somalia security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Forces (SSF) by developing Business Intelligence (BI) products and delivering related training. This position is integral to the implementation of the BI strategy and roadmap for UNSOS, focusing on enhancing analytics and business intelligence capabilities. The incumbent will be responsible for creating standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and trending analyses based on improved data collection and cleansing methods. The role requires the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various enterprise systems to ensure timely updates of BI products, thereby providing actionable intelligence to senior management and mission support units.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ICT Associate (Business Intelligence) will report to the UNOPS Senior Programme Manager and work closely with the Chief Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) in the Performance Management Section of UNSOS. Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting business and scope analysis, gathering requirements, and documenting processes.
  • Building ETL procedures to refresh BI products.
  • Assisting in the development and testing of BI reports across various domains.
  • Reviewing datasets for quality, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Monitoring dashboards to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Improving internal data collection and monitoring processes to enhance data quality.
  • Establishing and improving standards for data management and lifecycle.
  • Organizing and delivering functional BI training workshops for ATMIS, FGS, and FSS.
  • Performing other relevant tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma (or equivalent) with six years of relevant experience, or a first-level university degree in Applied Mathematics, Electronics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or a related field with two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a technical diploma in a related field with four years of relevant experience is acceptable. Relevant experience is defined as work in ICT, Electronics, Information Systems, or related fields, with a minimum of two years in data reporting or analysis. Desirable qualifications include experience with SAP or other ERP tools, data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI), and familiarity with supply chain management.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a secondary school diploma or equivalent, a first-level university degree in a relevant field, or a technical diploma with substantial experience. Candidates with a background in Applied Mathematics, Electronics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, or Engineering are preferred, as these areas provide the necessary analytical and technical skills required for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in ICT, Electronics, Information Systems, or related fields. Experience in building data reports or performing data analysis is essential. Additional desirable experience includes working with data visualization tools and familiarity with supply chain management processes. Candidates with a strong background in data analytics and reporting will be favored.

Languages:
Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a local position, and only Somali citizens or applicants with a valid residence and work permit in Somalia are eligible. The contract type is ICA (Individual Contractor Agreement) at level LICA 6, with an ongoing duration subject to organizational requirements and satisfactory performance.
