Job Overview: The Information ManagementIntern position at the United Nations is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of information management within a global context. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to:
Facilitating training sessions and providing guidance to team members, ensuring that all staff are well-informed about internal and public guidance.
Preparing and drafting various documents such as presentations, briefings, and guidance notes for senior staff, as well as taking minutes during meetings.
Assisting in the collection and organization of data related to funding trends and training sessions, and preparing updates and dashboards for management and external audiences using tools like Power BI and PowerPoint.
Conducting research and drafting advocacy materials that support the UN's initiatives, particularly in relation to the One Grant Management System (OneGMS).
Analyzing complex data sets to inform decision-making processes in humanitarian projects and pooled fund allocations.
Developing interactive financial dashboards, automating reporting processes, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance operational efficiency.
Performing any other duties as required by the hiring unit, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet specific criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and systems. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams, is essential. Additionally, knowledge of MS Power BI, advanced Excel skills, and basic Python skills are required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, showing a willingness to understand and respect differing opinions and views.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a strong educational background relevant to the internship. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program.
