Job Overview: The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for CHAI Cambodia will lead a team of approximately 65 staff from 13 nationalities across 11 health programs. The role involves achieving transformational impact in health system strengthening and integrated models of care. The Country Director will work closely with the Cambodia Ministry of Health, serving as a close advisor to the Minister and Director General for Health. Responsibilities include program expansion, designing new programs in partnership with the Ministry of Health and impacted communities, and establishing impact measurement for each new initiative. The Country Director will also oversee the quality of CHAI's programmatic work, guide programs towards scale and sustainability, and maintain strong relationships with donors and partners. This position requires a strategic leader who can foster a culture of impact, curiosity, and inclusion within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead CHAI Cambodia, ensuring a strong track record of transformational impact and health system strengthening across 11 health programs.
Elevate CHAI’s role within the Cambodia Ministry of Health, acting as a close advisor to key health officials.
Design and expand new programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and local communities.
Establish impact measurement frameworks for new programs to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
Oversee the quality of programmatic work to achieve significant health outcomes.
Build and maintain relationships with over 15 donors, securing new funding opportunities.
Lead and develop the capabilities of the Leadership Team, enhancing decision-making processes.
Strengthen office processes and systems to support employee engagement and performance management. 1
Maintain relationships with international and local partners, sharing insights to influence health strategies. 1
Collaborate with other country directors in the Asia Pacific region to contribute to regional strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in business, public health, or a related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in strategic program management, particularly in global health or international development.
5+ years in a senior leadership role, with experience in recruiting, managing, and developing diverse teams.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational structures.
Proven success in leading integrated program strategies that achieve health impact.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to build trusted relationships with various stakeholders.
Track record of overseeing diverse program portfolios and delivering impactful results.
Understanding of fundraising strategies and experience in managing donor relationships.
Experience managing budgets and guiding program leads effectively. 1
Familiarity with decentralized teams and working in low- and middle-income countries.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as business, public health, or a related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of health systems and program management in a global context.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience, with a strong focus on strategic program management. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role, demonstrating the ability to manage and develop teams effectively. Experience in global health or international development is highly preferred, along with a proven track record of achieving health impact through integrated program strategies.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and verbal, as strong communication skills are essential for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders. Additional language skills relevant to the Cambodian context would be advantageous but are not mandatory.
