Job Overview: The (Senior) Lawyer position at the EIB's Legal Directorate is designed for a qualified legal professional specializing in Luxembourgish law. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the (Senior) Lawyer include:
Participating in the negotiation, drafting, and review of legal documentation for significant contracts, particularly in construction and real estate.
Providing legal advice on issues related to the Bank’s operations in Luxembourg, including contractual rights and obligations.
Advising on risk management strategies for contracts governed by Luxembourg law.
Assisting in dispute resolution and pre-litigation matters, particularly in construction and real estate contexts.
Collaborating with various departments within the Bank to ensure a proactive and solution-oriented approach to legal challenges.
Advising on administrative matters, especially those governed by Luxembourg law, including intellectual property issues.
Conducting legal research and staying updated on relevant legislation and jurisprudence.
Building and maintaining relationships within the Bank and representing the EIB in external legal matters.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in law (minimum equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) and must be admitted to practice law in Luxembourg (List I or List II). Admission to practice in another EU member state is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in commercial law, construction, or real estate law, preferably within the Luxembourg context. Experience in litigation is also advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in advising and drafting legal documentation in both French and English, alongside a solid understanding of civil law fundamentals. Familiarity with standard IT tools and Bank working procedures is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in law, which must be equivalent to at least a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates must also have the necessary qualifications to practice law in Luxembourg, which is a prerequisite for this role. Additional qualifications or degrees from other EU member states can enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the fields of commercial law, construction law, or real estate law.
