Job Overview: The Multi-director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country Director of Programs (MC DoP) is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, quality, implementation, compliance, and business development for key country programs across the MENA region, specifically in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Yemen. This position requires a strong focus on evidence-based decision-making and the ability to manage diverse program teams effectively. The MC DoP will work closely with Country and Program Managers to ensure that programs are aligned with Mercy Corps' strategic vision and operational plans. The role demands a deep understanding of the social, political, environmental, and economic contexts in which Mercy Corps operates, as well as the ability to adapt strategies and approaches based on changing needs and donor trends. The MC DoP will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding program portfolios through proactive business development strategies and fostering strong relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MC DoP will lead the development and operationalization of country strategies and operational plans, ensuring that programs are innovative and responsive to the needs of the communities served. Responsibilities include overseeing program management and implementation, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and maintaining effective communication and collaboration with program teams. The MC DoP will supervise Country Managers and Program Managers, ensuring that programs are delivered on scope, time, and budget. Additionally, the role involves driving business development strategies, fostering a creative team culture, and ensuring accountability and compliance with organizational standards. The MC DoP will also represent Mercy Corps at national and international levels, advocating for the organization's mission and building collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the MC DoP position must possess a BA/S or equivalent in a relevant field, with an MA/S preferred. A minimum of seven years of senior-level leadership and management experience in large and complex programs, including humanitarian, resilience, recovery, and development operations, is required. Candidates should have substantial knowledge of the international humanitarian system, compliance requirements, and best practices, as well as experience working in the MENA region. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and negotiation abilities, are essential. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in program strategy development and implementation, as well as a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the MC DoP position includes a BA/S in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding an MA/S. The educational qualifications should align with the responsibilities of managing complex programs and leading diverse teams in challenging environments.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of seven years of senior-level leadership and management experience in large and complex programs, particularly in humanitarian, resilience, recovery, and development operations. Experience in the MENA region is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of successfully managing strategic transitions and building collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it enhances the ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders effectively.
Additional Notes: The MC DoP position is based in Amman, Jordan, and is currently an unaccompanied position. The role requires approximately 50% travel to field offices, some of which may be in insecure environments. Mercy Corps team members are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respect local laws and customs at all times.
