Job Overview:
The Roving Access Manager position at NRC Sudan is a critical role aimed at enhancing principled design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation across the Darfur Area Offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational guidance and analysis to ensure quality access to humanitarian assistance in various regions, including Tawila, Golo, Nyala, and Geneina. This role requires a proactive approach to establishing and maintaining relationships with local authorities and stakeholders, as well as supporting access coordination mechanisms. The Roving Access Manager will also be involved in crisis management and strategic decision-making related to humanitarian access, making it essential for the candidate to have a strong understanding of humanitarian principles and the complexities of operating in volatile contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Roving Access Manager will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: representing NRC to external audiences and stakeholders, managing the Darfur Access Coordinator, overseeing travel-related permits and approvals, providing strategic support to Area Managers, and facilitating access negotiations. The role also involves monitoring and reporting on contextual and access trends, writing analytical reports on security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security incidents, and supporting the Capacity Management Group (CMG) in identifying access-related issues. Additionally, the Roving Access Manager will be responsible for capacity building among field staff on access-related topics and ensuring effective information management and dissemination.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within NGOs, UN agencies, or the private sector. They should have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position, technical expertise in humanitarian access, and a solid understanding of humanitarian principles. Experience in remote management and liaising with various stakeholders, including communities, authorities, and other humanitarian organizations, is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to assess political, social, and security situations in complex environments.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in international relations, international law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">humanitarian law, or a relevant technical field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the legal and operational frameworks that govern humanitarian action and access in conflict settings.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in a similar functional role, particularly in complex and volatile contexts. Previous experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, or in the private sector is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience in remote management and a proven track record of successfully navigating challenging operational environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in Arabic is desired, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the candidate's effectiveness in the role. Familiarity with local culture, politics, and geographical areas is also beneficial.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Darfur, Sudan, with a contract duration of 12 months. The role requires approximately 70% field travel, indicating a significant commitment to on-the-ground operations. The salary and benefits are aligned with NRC’s International salary scale, specifically at grade 9, and come with accompanying terms and conditions.
