Job Overview:
The Senior Officer, Health Product Research & Development will play a crucial role in the Health, Innovation & Partnership (HIP) team at the China Country Office (CCO). This position focuses on building global health innovation partnerships, particularly for Sub-Saharan Africa, while also fostering domestic health innovation in China. The role involves shaping and supporting the market access and delivery of global public health goods originating from China. The postholder will engage with innovators and manufacturers on product development projects, support the foundation's program teams in implementing strategies related to diagnostics and innovative technology solutions, and collaborate with global partners to enhance demand and market access. This position is a limited-term engagement for nine months, based in Beijing, and reports to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Health Innovation Partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Officer will be responsible for scouting opportunities and managing collaborations with product development partners and global health innovation initiatives, particularly in innovative diagnostics solutions. The role includes serving as a facilitator to improve access to Chinese-developed drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The officer will initiate and manage projects related to market demand forecasting, competitive landscaping, and pricing strategies. Additionally, the position involves managing relationships with product development and ecosystem partners to ensure alignment with strategic goals, overseeing grants for assessing manufacturers' readiness for WHO prequalification, and providing support for product launch and market access strategies. The officer will also engage with a global network to strengthen public goods development and technology transfer, work with domestic partners to identify global impact opportunities, and collaborate with other teams within the foundation on strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or an advanced degree in medicine, biomedical engineering, biology, chemistry, or laboratory science. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the private sector, not-for-profit organizations, or institutions focused on health or global health is required. A clear understanding of global health program implementation and experience partnering with Chinese ministries and international organizations is essential. Knowledge of the product development lifecycle, including needs analysis, clinical evaluation, global regulatory processes, and market access, is mandatory. Familiarity with the health needs of LMICs is highly desired, along with demonstrated strategic planning and program management experience in health product research and development.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or an advanced degree in relevant disciplines such as medicine, biomedical engineering, biology, chemistry, or laboratory science. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of health product research and development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in relevant sectors, including the private sector, not-for-profit organizations, or institutions focused on health or global health. Candidates should have a proven track record in global health program implementation and experience working with various stakeholders, including government ministries and international partners.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Chinese (written and verbal) is required for this position. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the diverse teams and partners involved in the foundation's initiatives. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This is a limited-term position for nine months, based in Beijing. The role requires the ability to legally work in China without visa sponsorship.
