Job Overview:
The Manual Worker position is a part-time role within the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically designed to assist in supply and stores management at the Mission Head Office and field locations. The selected candidate will be responsible for various logistical and operational tasks, including receiving deliveries, managing supplies, and providing building management support. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that the Mission's operational needs are met efficiently. The Manual Worker will work under the immediate supervision of the Mission Storekeeper and the overall supervision of the Senior Material Management Assistant, contributing to the smooth functioning of the Mission's logistical operations. The position is crucial for maintaining the Mission's infrastructure and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available for both office and field operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Manual Worker, the selected candidate will be tasked with several key responsibilities:
  • Receiving Mission deliveries and ensuring the onward supply of goods to both the Head Office and Field Offices, which includes office supplies, project-related goods, and other consumables such as water and cleaning materials.
  • Conducting necessary repairs on office furniture to maintain a functional work environment.
  • Providing various Building Management Services as required, which includes assembling, dismantling, and moving furniture and heavy equipment, mounting cupboards, charts, and signs within the premises, maintaining storage of furniture components and other assets, and monitoring stock levels of stationery to initiate re-ordering of supplies.
  • Assisting with the relocation of offices by moving furniture and equipment, as well as participating in cleaning, repair, and refurbishment activities for both the Head Office in Sarajevo and other Mission field offices.
  • Supporting waste disposal efforts to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s) to ensure the effective operation of the Mission's logistical and building management functions.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Manual Worker position, candidates must meet the following qualifications: - Completed secondary education, preferably with a technical focus in mechanics, engineering, or a related field. - A minimum of one year of directly relevant work experience in a similar role or environment. - A working knowledge of English to facilitate communication within the team and with other stakeholders. - A valid driver’s license and a willingness to self-drive throughout the Mission Area of Responsibility (AoR) to fulfill job duties effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates applying for the Manual Worker position should possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Preference will be given to those who have completed technical education or courses related to mechanics or engineering, as this background will be beneficial in performing the duties associated with the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least one year of directly relevant work experience. This experience should ideally be in a logistical, supply chain, or building management context, where the candidate has demonstrated the ability to handle similar responsibilities effectively. Experience in a multicultural environment or within international organizations may be advantageous.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication within the OSCE and with other international stakeholders. While not mandatory, proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken in Bosnia and Herzegovina, may be considered an asset and could enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a part-time role and is open exclusively to citizens and permanent residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The monthly remuneration for this position is 840.7 BAM, subject to social security deductions. Employees will also benefit from participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. Appointments are typically made at step 1 of the OSCE salary scale, with the possibility of a higher step being approved based on specific conditions. Candidates should be aware that the OSCE does not reimburse expenses related to travel for interviews, tests, visas, or relocation. Additionally, all appointments are subject to medical clearance, and the OSCE has a mandatory retirement age of 65 years for contracted positions. The organization emphasizes that it does not request payment at any stage of the application process.
