Job Overview:
The Political intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Affairs Intern - Research Analyst position is an internship opportunity within the South and Southeast Asia Team of the Asia and the Pacific Division at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in political affairs, particularly focusing on peace and security issues in South and Southeast Asia. Interns will engage in a variety of tasks that involve research, analysis, and support for ongoing projects. The internship is structured to be full-time, requiring 35 hours per week, but can be adjusted to part-time or remote work based on the candidate's needs. The role is unpaid, and candidates are expected to gain valuable insights into the workings of the UN and its approach to international relations and diplomacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Political Affairs Intern include conducting research on peace and security issues in South and Southeast Asia, monitoring media and analyzing current events, drafting thematic papers and background documents, taking notes during conferences and meetings, assisting in the organization of meetings, supporting data collection and information management, and contributing to project management efforts. Interns will be expected to collaborate with team members and contribute to the overall objectives of the division, gaining practical experience in political analysis and international relations.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following qualifications: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program or have completed such programs. Proof of eligibility must be provided with the application.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor’s degree program.
