Job Overview: The Regional Operations Manager - MENA is a pivotal role within the regional operations management support team, specifically for Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen. This position is responsible for ensuring that resources are effectively planned and utilized to support program implementation. The Regional Operations Manager will work closely with the Deputy Regional Director – Operations and the Regional Supply Chain Operations Director to provide leadership and direction for the country programs. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including strategic oversight, policy implementation, resource management, and team development, all aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of Mercy Corps in the MENA region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Regional Operations Manager – MENA include managing reliable and cost-effective operations, ensuring compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations, conducting procurement for the respective countries, and providing management information for decision-making. The role also involves strategic oversight of operations management, advising on policies and plans, analyzing the operating environment, and guiding operational strategies. Additionally, the manager will implement appropriate policies and procedures, ensure compliance with finance policies, manage resources effectively, develop team capacity, and support procurement activities across the region. The position requires oversight of procurement processes, logistics, and administrative resources, ensuring transparency and efficiency in operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a BA/BS degree in a relevant field and have a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in either a corporate or INGO sector, with a focus on operational support and strategy development. A working knowledge of SAP Ariba and sound knowledge of administrative and logistics procedures are highly desired. Proven supervisory abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and the capacity to maintain effective working relationships in a diverse environment are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills, analytical problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
