Job Overview:
The HR Specialist, Client Services position is pivotal in supporting the Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU) at UNFPA, which is headquartered in Copenhagen. This role involves providing strategic HR advisory services to SCMU leadership, particularly focusing on the implementation of the SCMU Strategy 2025–202
  • The Specialist will work closely with the Senior HR Business Partner to deliver tailored HR services and operational support to SCMU staff. Key responsibilities include managing HR processes such as workforce planning, talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, and staff development. The Specialist will also contribute to HR policy development and resolve complex HR matters, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies. This position is essential for enhancing the capacity of governments and partners in supply chain management, ultimately ensuring the effective delivery of life-saving reproductive health products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Specialist will be responsible for delivering comprehensive HR services, which include developing a deep understanding of HR policies, collaborating with senior HR personnel, and leading the implementation of strategic HR initiatives. The role requires designing and monitoring a Learning and Development Plan to address competency gaps, driving change management efforts, and preparing strategic briefs and analytical reports for SCMU leadership. Additionally, the Specialist will coordinate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with ethical standards, manage HR budgets, and facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives. The position also involves team management, creating a conducive working environment, and performing any other duties as required by the Chief of SCMU.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related discipline. A minimum of five years of progressively relevant experience in HR management is required, with a focus on providing strategic HR support to a large client base on a global level. Experience within UNFPA is considered an asset, along with knowledge of modern HR concepts and the ability to deliver effective solutions to complex HR challenges. Strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to handle confidential information are essential. Previous experience in development or humanitarian organizations is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related discipline is required for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding complex HR policies and practices, as well as the strategic management of human resources in a global context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively relevant experience in HR management, specifically in providing strategic HR support to a large client base on a global level. This experience should include a strong understanding of HR processes and the ability to navigate complex HR challenges in a multicultural and increasingly remote-based environment. Previous HR experience within UNFPA is considered an asset, as it demonstrates familiarity with the organization's values and operational framework.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary working language of UNFPA. Additionally, a working knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
