Job Overview: As the Country Manager for Burkina Faso, you will be responsible for managing and representing the country program office. This role involves advancing programming and operational objectives aligned with the mission of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to serve the poor and vulnerable populations. You will leverage your management and representation skills to further CRS's strategy and secure essential resources for ongoing operations. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high-quality programming and continuous improvement in program impact. You will coordinate activities across various projects to ensure integration and efficiency in implementation, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of CRS's efforts in Burkina Faso.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will include providing strategic direction for the Burkina Faso office in collaboration with the Regional Director, ensuring the establishment and implementation of high-quality programs. You will increase CRS's visibility among stakeholders, including donors and government entities, and oversee project operations, ensuring accountability for financial resources and compliance with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and safeguarding policies. Building partnerships with local and international organizations, as well as with Catholic Church leadership, will be crucial. You will ensure that all projects meet donor expectations and adhere to CRS program quality standards. Additionally, you will manage senior talent, supervise staff, and promote a culture of learning and accountability within the team. Your role will also involve risk management and ensuring compliance with operational functions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing high-value relief and development programs is required. Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to make timely decisions are essential. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead teams effectively are also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive and results-oriented approach, with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development or International Relations. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and development programming.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in managing high-value relief and development programs. Experience in complex development settings and engaging with various stakeholders, including local governments and the private sector, is preferred. Staff management experience that fosters a learning environment is also important.
Languages: Fluency in both English and French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time, regular position that reports to the Regional Director for West Africa. The role may require travel of up to 20%.
