Job Overview:
The Communications and Resource Mobilization Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA Country Programme in Cuba, which aims to reduce preventable maternal mortality and eliminate unmet needs for family planning. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and media outlets, to implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the Country Programme's objectives. The Associate will be responsible for developing content for media and digital platforms, coordinating communications initiatives, and identifying funding opportunities to enhance resource mobilization efforts. The role requires a proactive approach to engage with diverse partners and ensure that UNFPA's agenda is effectively communicated and promoted within Cuba.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will be responsible for designing and executing UNFPA's communications and visibility strategy in Cuba, ensuring alignment with the Country Programme. Key responsibilities include coordinating communications and resource mobilization activities, developing and managing content for media and digital platforms, proposing editorials and opinion pieces, and collaborating with UN agencies and civil society on joint initiatives. The Associate will also identify funding opportunities, develop project proposals, organize high-level events, prepare reports and technical documents, and contribute to knowledge management by identifying best practices. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with programmatic and operational areas to ensure effective execution of strategies and adapting communication actions as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in journalism, strategic communications, media, or public relations with a secondary education, or 3 years of experience with a bachelor's degree. Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, along with demonstrated experience in creating engaging online content and managing digital media platforms. Familiarity with web production tools and content management systems is required, and experience within the United Nations system is considered an asset. The ideal candidate should also have a strong understanding of digital media best practices and technologies.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma is required, and a university degree in communications is preferred but not mandatory. The educational background should support the candidate's ability to effectively engage in strategic communications and resource mobilization efforts.

Experience:
The position requires significant experience in communications-related fields, with a focus on journalism, media, and public relations. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing communications projects and campaigns, as well as experience in building and maintaining online communities. Hands-on experience with digital media platforms and content creation is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with local stakeholders is essential. Knowledge of English is desirable, as it may facilitate collaboration with international partners and access to global resources.
