The position is located within the Software Products for Member States Unit (SPMS) of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The UNOV was established to support the work of the United Nations in Vienna, focusing on various global issues including drug control, crime prevention, and criminal justice. The UNODC, established in 1997, aims to assist Member States in their struggle against illicit drugs and international crime. The SPMS unit specifically develops innovative software solutions that are deployed in nearly a hundred Member States, facilitating the operationalization of UNODC's mandates in combating corruption, controlling illicit drugs, and fighting financial and organized crime. The unit's work has a significant impact on investigations and convictions related to financial crime, money laundering, and terrorist financing.

Job Overview:
The Information Systems Assistant / Software Products Integrator will play a crucial role in the implementation and support of sustainable IT solutions for key government institutions in Member States. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Software Project Manager and will be responsible for integrating various subsystems of software products, ensuring they function cohesively. This position requires a proactive approach to managing software development processes, coordinating with Member States, and assisting in the preparation of documentation related to information security. The role also involves liaising with local teams, defining standards for software infrastructure deployment, and contributing to data collection and analysis for informed decision-making. The incumbent will be expected to maintain open communication channels with clients and handle any issues or complaints effectively, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: integrating component subsystems of software products, designing and maintaining platforms and websites for deployment management, implementing and monitoring software development processes, coordinating planning aspects for development and mission activities, preparing documents for publication, liaising with Member States on project implementation, defining standards and policies for software infrastructure, collecting and analyzing data for presentations and reports, handling client complaints, and contributing to data visualization efforts. The role requires a strong focus on client orientation, ensuring that all services provided meet the needs of the clients and that communication remains open and effective throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with certifications in Windows Administration and ITIL4 being desirable. The role requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in integrating and maintaining software solutions, databases, and computer information systems within a Microsoft Windows environment. For candidates with a first-level university degree or higher, the minimum experience requirement is reduced to three years. Knowledge of IT infrastructure, hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, and familiarity with PowerShell and IT security components are essential. Experience in establishing infrastructure architecture and knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps and open-source DevOps solutions are also desirable. Additionally, experience in data analytics or related fields is beneficial, and prior work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Candidates with certifications in Windows Administration and ITIL4 are preferred, as these qualifications demonstrate a foundational understanding of IT systems and service management principles. While a higher education degree is not mandatory, possessing a first-level university degree can reduce the required years of experience, highlighting the importance of educational background in relation to practical experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of software integration and maintenance, specifically within a Microsoft Windows environment. Candidates who hold a first-level university degree or higher may qualify with only three years of relevant experience. This experience should encompass a comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure, software solutions, and database management, with a strong emphasis on hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and familiarity with tools such as PowerShell. Additional experience in data analytics, IT security, and working within international organizations like the United Nations is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is considered an advantage, as it is another official language of the UN. Additionally, proficiency in another United Nations official language would be beneficial, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.

Additional Notes:
The initial appointment for this position is for a period of one year, subject to funding availability. Extensions of the appointment will depend on the continuation of the mandate and the availability of funds. This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that applicants must be authorized to work in Austria. Candidates selected from outside the duty station will be responsible for their relocation expenses.
