Job Overview: The position of Responsable de Projet Abris involves overseeing the implementation of the Langara Project under the supervision of the field coordinator. This pilot project aims to work with local populations to improve and build resilient infrastructure in precarious housing sites in Mayotte. The role is crucial as it is the first shelter project manager position in Mayotte, requiring knowledge of the sector, including mapping stakeholders, establishing connections with other actors in the field, coordinating with architects and NGOs, and engaging potential funders. The first two to three months will focus on team management, activity planning, and understanding the institutional environment and associative partners.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Responsable de Projet Abris include:
Implementing the Langara Project by collaborating with local communities to enhance infrastructure in precarious housing areas.
Managing project activities and ensuring compliance with safety standards on construction sites.
Preparing estimates, budgets, and quantitative assessments for project needs.
Coordinating with local stakeholders and partners to facilitate project execution.
Monitoring and evaluating project progress and making necessary adjustments.
Reporting on project outcomes and challenges to the field coordinator.
Engaging in fundraising efforts and liaising with potential donors.
Ensuring that the project aligns with SI's mission and values.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field. They should have a foundational understanding of project management and team leadership, particularly in construction settings. Familiarity with safety regulations and standards in construction is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate adaptability to different cultural contexts and possess operational project management skills.
Educational Background: A degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background should provide the necessary technical knowledge and skills to effectively manage construction projects and engage with local communities.
Experience: The position requires 0-2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a preference for candidates who have held similar roles in project management. Experience in construction or related fields is also beneficial, particularly in managing teams and overseeing project execution.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication. Knowledge of Shimaoré is considered a plus, as it may facilitate better engagement with local communities.

The role is based in Mayotte, and the salary will be determined based on experience, starting at EUR 2865 gross per month.
