Job Overview: The position of Consultancy – Stabilization: Training and Technical Support within the UNDP Crisis Bureau is designed to provide essential training and technical support to enhance stabilization efforts in crisis-affected regions. The consultant will be responsible for developing training materials, conducting workshops, and providing on-the-ground technical assistance to local partners in Ethiopia and Mozambique. The role requires a deep understanding of stabilization processes, conflict resolution, and capacity building, as well as the ability to adapt training methodologies to diverse cultural contexts. The consultant will work closely with UNDP teams and local stakeholders to ensure that training initiatives are aligned with national priorities and contribute to long-term stability and development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive training materials tailored to the needs of local partners in Ethiopia and Mozambique, focusing on stabilization and recovery strategies.
Conduct training workshops and seminars for government officials, civil society organizations, and community leaders to enhance their capacity in stabilization efforts.
Provide ongoing technical support and mentorship to local partners during the implementation of stabilization initiatives.
Collaborate with UNDP teams and other stakeholders to assess training needs and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
Prepare detailed reports on training activities, outcomes, and recommendations for future interventions.
Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in stabilization and recovery to inform training content and methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs related to stabilization, conflict resolution, or capacity building.
Strong understanding of the political, social, and economic contexts of Ethiopia and Mozambique, particularly in relation to stabilization efforts.
Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, and civil society in crisis-affected settings is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in international relations, development studies, peace and conflict studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in training methodologies or adult education would be an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in training, technical support, or capacity building in the context of stabilization and recovery. Experience working in crisis-affected countries, particularly in Africa, is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in French or Portuguese is considered an asset, given the operational contexts in Ethiopia and Mozambique.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. The consultant will work remotely but is expected to travel to Ethiopia and Mozambique as required for training and support activities. This is a full-time consultancy role, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
