Job Overview:

Interns will gain practical experience in the Research and Publications Department, which focuses on labor and employment issues. The internship provides an opportunity to engage with the ILO's principles and strategies while contributing to the analysis of potential research partnerships. Interns will work under the supervision of the Senior Adviser and collaborate with various thematic research teams and specialists. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to explore research avenues that align with the ILO's mandate and contribute to the development of the Research Agenda 2026-29.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for assessing past and current partnerships, researching and mapping new potential partnerships to support the ILO's Research Agenda, and identifying funding requirements. They will also contribute to the analysis of thematic research areas and assist in outreach efforts to build relationships with external institutions, organizations, and foundations. Additionally, interns should expect to devote 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks, ensuring that they support the department's operational needs while gaining valuable experience in partnership building and resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate program or have completed such a program within the past year. A working knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Familiarity with funding opportunity databases and basic knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS, R, or Stata is advantageous. Additionally, candidates should possess skills in data analysis using tools like Excel, Python, or Tableau, which would enhance their ability to contribute effectively to the department's research initiatives.

Educational Background:
The ideal educational background for this internship includes fields such as Social Sciences, International Development, Public Policies, Educational Sciences, Communication, or related disciplines. Candidates should have a strong academic foundation that supports their understanding of labor and employment issues at the international level.

Experience:
Candidates should have research and/or work experience in building partnerships for research or development cooperation. Familiarity with MS Office, Teams, and AI tools for data analysis and project management is also required. This experience will enable interns to effectively contribute to the ILO's research initiatives and partnership-building efforts.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in other ILO official languages, such as French and Spanish, is considered an asset and would be beneficial for communication within the multicultural environment of the ILO.

Additional Notes:
This internship opportunity is limited to candidates with disabilities. The duration of the internship is six months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, with additional contributions towards medical insurance. Candidates from non- or under-represented member states may be eligible for financial assistance for travel costs to Geneva.
