Job Overview:
The position of Extended Term Consultant (ETC) for Gender-Climate Support is pivotal in leading the She Wins Climate program, which is a significant initiative under the Gender and Economic Inclusion Department. The ETC will dedicate 75% of their efforts to overseeing project implementation, managing the peer learning platform, and coordinating regional efforts across various implementation areas. The remaining 25% of the role involves providing cross-cutting support to the Innovation Unit on inclusion-climate initiatives. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the She Wins Climate program effectively supports women-led climate startups in emerging markets, facilitating peer learning among climate fund managers, and conducting research to address knowledge gaps. This role requires a proactive approach to project governance, including budget management, timelines, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that all components of the program are executed seamlessly and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Extended Term Consultant include:
  • Overseeing project governance for the She Wins Climate program, which encompasses budget management, timeline adherence, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, contracting, and communications.
  • Acting as the Program Officer for the She Wins Climate program, coordinating with the Innovation Operations Officer and Gender Program Officer.
  • Implementing the Peer Learning Platform by coordinating vendor-led activities for fund managers, ensuring quality control of deliverables, and onboarding new participants and partners.
  • Collaborating with regional consultants to align the implementation of Regional Acceleration Programs, reporting outcomes, and sharing lessons learned.
  • Developing research Terms of Reference, selecting and managing technical vendors, and ensuring that data collection is integrated into project components.
  • Supporting the Innovation Unit by undertaking market assessments, developing inclusive climate investment solutions, and assisting with research deliverables.
  • Organizing and executing events related to inclusive climate business, ensuring that all activities align with the program's objectives and contribute to its success.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a tertiary degree such as a Master’s, PhD, or MBA in relevant fields including Business, International Development, Project Management, Sustainability, Gender Studies, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, or Economics. Additionally, candidates should have 8-10 years of practical and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong administrative and project management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage timelines efficiently, proactively identify and resolve issues, and maintain high-quality project execution. Excellent networking skills and previous experience in development projects are also required, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a tertiary degree, which can be a Master’s, PhD, or MBA, in fields such as Business, International Development, Project Management, Sustainability, Gender Studies, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, or Economics. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of the role and effectively contributing to the objectives of the She Wins Climate program and the broader goals of the IFC.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 8-10 years of practical and relevant experience in fields related to project management, international development, or gender and climate initiatives. This experience should include a proven track record of managing projects, engaging stakeholders, and working collaboratively in diverse environments. Candidates should also have experience in developing and implementing strategies that promote gender equality and economic inclusion, particularly in emerging markets.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for effective communication and documentation. While English proficiency is required, familiarity with additional languages may be considered a plus, particularly if they are relevant to the regions in which the She Wins Climate program operates.

Additional Notes:
This position is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal at the discretion of the World Bank Group. The maximum duration for an Extended Term appointment is three years. If an Extended Term appointment concludes before a full year, it will still count as a full year towards the lifetime maximum.
