Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the ILO's generic internship roster, which is published biannually. Interns will gain hands-on experience in the governance and tripartism department, specifically within the Fundamentals Branch. This role is designed to enhance the intern's understanding of international labor issues while providing practical experience related to their field of study. Interns will be involved in various projects, including the implementation of the Plan of Action on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) and will work closely with specialists and technical officers to support the branch's objectives. The internship is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience, allowing interns to contribute to significant initiatives while developing their professional skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for supporting the follow-up and implementation of the Plan of Action on FPRW, which includes tracking progress on outputs, contributing to resource mobilization efforts, and assisting in the organization of the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour. Specific tasks include:
  • Assisting in the tracking of the Branch’s workplan and outputs related to the Plan of Action on FPRW, ensuring timely delivery of planned activities.
  • Developing tools and documents to support resource mobilization, including creating presentations, brochures, and factsheets.
  • Supporting the preparation for the Global Conference by organizing regional consultations, publishing briefs, and designing agendas and sessions.
  • Performing administrative tasks as needed, dedicating 10% to 20% of time to these responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently completed a Master’s or Doctorate program in relevant fields such as Social Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Economics, Development Studies, Law, or other Social Sciences. A working knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additionally, candidates should possess strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this internship is a current enrollment in a Master’s degree program or completion of such a program within the past year. Relevant fields of study include Social Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Economics, Development Studies, Law, or other related disciplines in the social sciences.

Experience:
Interns should have experience supporting planning processes, project implementation, and monitoring, as well as resource mobilization and knowledge management. Previous experience or knowledge of fundamental principles and rights at work, labor rights, human rights, or sustainable development is highly desirable. This experience will enable interns to effectively contribute to the ILO's initiatives and projects.

Languages:
Full proficiency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Spanish or French, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is for a duration of 3 months, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months. This opportunity is specifically limited to candidates with disabilities. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, with additional contributions towards medical insurance. Candidates from non- or under-represented countries may be eligible for financial assistance for travel costs to Geneva.
