Job Overview:

Interns will be involved in the ILO's work related to the implementation of the principles and rights at work, specifically focusing on the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW). The intern will support the monitoring and implementation of the action plan for FPRW, working closely with various departments to ensure effective collaboration and progress tracking. This role is ideal for individuals looking to deepen their understanding of international labor standards and gain hands-on experience in a global organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in monitoring the work plan of the Fundamentals Service and the action plan for FPRW 2024-2030, ensuring that progress is tracked and reported accurately.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and documents aimed at resource mobilization for the service, including editing and validating content from various colleagues.
  • Participate in the preparation and organization of the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, including regional consultations and the publication of informational materials.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists and project leaders to understand the interdependencies of FPRW and contribute to the overall goals of the service.
  • Support the team in developing partnerships and securing resources necessary for the implementation of the action plan.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently completed a Master's or Doctoral program in relevant fields such as social policy, political science, international relations, sociology, economics, or development studies. A strong understanding of labor rights and international labor standards is essential. Candidates should possess excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to analyze information critically. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective communication skills are also required.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be pursuing or have completed a Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline within the last year. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in social sciences, particularly in areas related to labor rights, governance, and international relations.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in supporting project planning, implementation, and monitoring processes. Experience in resource mobilization, innovation, knowledge management, or communication is highly desirable. Familiarity with principles and rights at work, labor rights, human rights, or sustainable development will be considered an asset.

Languages:
A strong command of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Knowledge of French or Spanish is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication within the diverse international environment of the ILO.

Additional Notes:
The internship is initially for a duration of 3 months, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months. This position is specifically reserved for candidates with disabilities. Interns will receive a monthly allowance of 2450 CHF, and additional support may be available for travel expenses for candidates from underrepresented countries.
