Job Overview: The Operations Analyst position at IFC-Ethiopia is designed to support the country office teams within the IFC-Ethiopia Cluster, which includes Ethiopia, Malawi, and Zambia. The role focuses on program management, business development, and business intelligence objectives aimed at fostering private sector growth in Ethiopia. The Operations Analyst will be based in Addis Ababa and will report directly to the Country Manager. While the primary focus is on Ethiopia, the successful candidate may also assist in consolidating and preparing relevant cluster reports and programs. The position requires a proactive approach to understanding the market landscape and contributing to various projects that enhance the operational effectiveness of the IFC in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Operations Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Business Development Support: Conducting desk research on the Ethiopia cluster market landscape, analyzing various in-country data sources, and preparing reports with findings and visual data representations. Participating in key projects, leading data collection and analytics, and generating reports. Engaging in diagnostic missions and quality reviews of reports, contributing to project concept notes, and assisting in approval processes. Collaborating with project teams on data analysis, financial projections, and documentation. Organizing high-level missions and knowledge management events, and developing proposals for clients and donors.
Portfolio Management Support: Assisting in project preparation and supervision, documenting reports, and tracking key performance indicators. Monitoring project timelines and ensuring data quality in project documents. Collaborating with project leaders to draft semi-annual donor reports.
Country and Industry Advisory Support: Aiding in strategy building, project coordination, and implementation. Providing analytical support to project teams and ensuring high standards in client deliverables. Supporting due diligence analysis and timely reporting as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Economics, or related fields. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Ethiopia's private or financial sectors, donor agencies, development finance institutions, or consultancies is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in market research, surveys, business development, and data analysis. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, along with the ability to execute tasks effectively, are essential. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of the economic, social, and political landscape in Ethiopia, as well as strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Economics, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of business operations and financial management within the context of development finance and private sector growth.
Experience: The position requires at least 4 years of relevant experience in Ethiopia, particularly in the private and/or financial sectors, donor agencies, development finance institutions, or consultancies. Candidates should have a proven track record in market research, business development, and data analysis, demonstrating their ability to contribute effectively to the organization's objectives.
Languages: A strong command of English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of other languages spoken in Ethiopia is highly desirable, as it can enhance communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and clients.
