Job Overview:

Interns will have the opportunity to engage directly with the ILO's work and gain practical experience related to their field of study. The internship is designed to enhance understanding of international labor issues and the application of ILO principles and strategies. Interns will work within the Human Resources Development Department, where they will be involved in various HR functions such as recruitment, training, job grading, and employee relations. This role is ideal for individuals who are strong communicators and are motivated to contribute to HR initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to assist in a variety of HR functions, including but not limited to: formulating and interpreting human resources policies, planning and administering career development schemes, advertising vacancies, interviewing and testing applicants, ensuring timely filling of vacancies, conducting job analysis and evaluation, implementing job grading systems, administering staff regulations and conditions of service, evaluating training needs, and developing training programs. Interns should anticipate dedicating 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks, while the remainder will involve engaging with HR specialists and contributing to ongoing projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Doctorate program within the year preceding the application. A working knowledge of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additionally, candidates should possess good drafting, analytical, and research skills, as well as the ability to take initiatives. Relevant work experience in Human Resources is beneficial, and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Knowledge of statistical data analysis and web design is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes fields such as Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, Law, Business Administration, Psychology, Educational Sciences, or related disciplines. Applicants must currently be pursuing a Master's degree or higher, or have completed their studies within the last 12 months prior to the application date.

Experience:
While no specific prior experience is mandated, any relevant work experience in Human Resources will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and possess strong analytical and research capabilities. The ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environment is essential for success in this role.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, with both oral and written proficiency required. Knowledge of additional ILO official languages, such as French and Spanish, is considered an asset and will enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The internship contract will last between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, with additional contributions towards medical insurance. Candidates from non- or under-represented member states may be eligible for travel cost coverage to Geneva. It is important to note that the ILO does not charge any fees during the recruitment process, and candidates should be aware of their own insurance coverage for the duration of the internship.
