Interns will be involved in various projects that support the ILO's mission of promoting social justice and fair labor practices. This role is particularly suited for those pursuing or having recently completed advanced studies in law or social sciences, as it requires a solid understanding of labor law and its implications in a global context.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be expected to perform a variety of tasks that contribute to the work of the Labour Law unit. These tasks include but are not limited to: collecting and analyzing comparative data on labor legislation and practices; assisting in providing technical advice to tripartite constituents on labor law reforms and access to justice; contributing to research on conflict prevention and resolution systems in labor disputes; participating in the publication of research findings; updating the EPLex database and producing related publications; finalizing documents produced by the team, including reference checks and proofreading; and performing other relevant tasks as needed. Interns should anticipate dedicating 10 to 20 percent of their time to administrative duties.

Candidates should either be currently enrolled in a Master's program or have completed such a program within the past year. A background in social sciences may also be beneficial, as it can provide a broader context for understanding labor issues.
Experience: Interns should possess demonstrable experience in conducting comparative legal research, particularly in the field of labor law. Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies is preferred, as well as familiarity with developing and maintaining a comprehensive database. Proficiency in standard MS Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is also required to effectively perform the tasks associated with this role.
Languages: A professional command of English is required for this internship, along with proficiency in at least one of the ILO's official languages, which include French and Spanish. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
Additional Notes: The internship contract will last between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or 15th of the month. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of 2450 CHF, unless they are receiving funding from another institution. If partial funding is received, the ILO will cover the difference to ensure the intern receives the full stipend. Additionally, interns will receive a monthly contribution of 45 CHF towards medical insurance costs during the internship period. Candidates from underrepresented or unrepresented member states may be eligible for financial assistance for travel expenses to Geneva.
