Job Overview:
The Associate Investment Officer for Fintech Venture Capital will play a crucial role in supporting the team responsible for direct Fintech investments across Africa. This position involves executing equity transactions and managing the portfolio effectively. The selected candidate will also assist senior team members in business development efforts throughout Africa, which includes preparing external presentations aimed at enhancing IFC's strategic positioning within the fintech sector. The role requires close collaboration with both the global venture capital team and the Africa financial institutions team, ensuring that the candidate is well-integrated into the organization's broader objectives and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Investment Officer include conducting thorough industry and market research to identify potential direct investments in the fintech sector. The officer will support the execution of direct investments, co-investment opportunities, and follow-on financing in Africa's fintech landscape. Analyzing financial statements and developing financial models are key tasks, as well as assisting the team in all aspects of IFC's deal approval process, which encompasses due diligence and the preparation of investment-related documents for both internal and external stakeholders. The officer will also be responsible for supervising portfolio companies, preparing portfolio reports, and ensuring compliance with related information. Coordination with IFC's internal departments is essential to maintain high standards of corporate governance, environmental and social responsibility, and integrity.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in finance, economics, business, or engineering. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, consulting, or private equity is preferred. Strong financial, analytical, and modeling skills are essential, along with a demonstrated interest in developing markets, fintech, and emerging technology sectors. The ideal candidate should be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds. A willingness to travel is also required, alongside exceptional communication and presentation skills, and fluency in both spoken and written English.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in finance, economics, business, or engineering. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of investment analysis and financial modeling necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or private equity. This level of experience is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the challenges associated with fintech investments and to contribute effectively to the team's objectives.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. While additional languages may be beneficial, English proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
