Job Overview:
The Director – Country Operations will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing the operations of PSI SA Health Solution in South Africa. This position requires a strategic leader who can ensure effective governance, program operations support, and compliance with donor requirements. The Director will work closely with global teams to align local strategies with PSI's overall mission and objectives. The role involves extensive fundraising efforts, establishing partnerships, and representing the organization to various stakeholders, including government entities and donors. The Director will also be responsible for risk management and ensuring that all program activities comply with financial and operational standards. This position is crucial for driving the success of PSI SA HS in South Africa and achieving its health-related goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of governance and program operations support for PSI SA HS.
  • Collaborate with the Global Operations Africa Program Management Team to ensure strategic alignment with PSI’s Global Strategy.
  • Lead fundraising efforts and establish strategic partnerships for new business opportunities.
  • Represent PSI SA HS in external partnerships and maintain strong relationships with government, in-country partners, and donors.
  • Ensure compliance with all program activities, including financial regulations and audit recommendations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate operational, financial, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Develop and enforce field office administrative policies and promote an ethical work environment.
  • Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

  • Travel as required, approximately 25% of the time.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in public health, public policy, public administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience in similar operating environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in government and donor relations, fundraising, and collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with data analysis programs is preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, with a Master's Degree being preferred. The educational background should be relevant to the health sector, public administration, or management, ensuring that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge to support their practical experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience. This experience should include leadership roles in health program management, fundraising, and compliance with donor regulations. Candidates with a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements will also be considered. Experience in similar operating environments and demonstrated success in managing complex health programs are essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent writing skills required for effective communication. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
