Interns will gain hands-on experience in the Multinational Enterprises and Responsible Business Conduct unit (MULTI) within the Sustainable Enterprises, Productivity and Just Transition Department (ENTERPRISES). This role is designed to enhance understanding of international labor issues and the application of ILO principles. Interns will be involved in various projects that support ILO constituents, including governments and organizations representing employers and workers. The internship aims to provide practical experience related to the intern's field of study, focusing on the ILO's MNE Declaration and its operational tools. Interns will also engage in capacity-building activities and national dialogues, contributing to the ILO's strategy on decent work in supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be expected to support the ILO Helpdesk for Business, assist in country-level interventions using the MNE Declaration, and contribute to capacity-building and training activities. They will also engage in research to inform evidence-based policy advice, tool development, and collaboration with other international organizations to align trade and investment with decent work principles. Administrative tasks will comprise 10% to 20% of the intern's time, ensuring that they gain a comprehensive understanding of the operational aspects of the ILO's work.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctorate program or have completed such a program within the past year. A background in law, economics, business, humanities, or related fields is preferred. Additionally, candidates should possess excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written, as this is a mandatory requirement for the position.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this internship is that candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a Master's or Doctorate program. This ensures that interns have a solid academic foundation relevant to the work they will be undertaking at the ILO.
Experience: While any relevant work experience in the public or private sector is advantageous, it is not strictly required for this internship. The focus is more on the candidate's educational background and their ability to contribute to the ILO's mission through their internship.
