Job Overview: The position of International Consultant for Sustainable Reporting Regulatory Framework Development is focused on creating a regulatory framework related to IFRS Sustainability Standards. The consultant will be responsible for developing guidelines and regulations that align with international sustainability standards, ensuring that local practices meet global expectations. This role requires a deep understanding of sustainability reporting and regulatory compliance, as well as the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector entities, and civil society organizations. The consultant will work closely with UNDP to ensure that the framework is practical, effective, and tailored to the specific needs of Mongolia. The assignment is expected to last for 20 working days, concluding by the end of September 2025, and will involve extensive research, stakeholder consultations, and the drafting of regulatory documents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing sustainability reporting practices in Mongolia and identify gaps in the current regulatory framework.
Engage with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry representatives, and civil society organizations, to gather input and feedback on the proposed regulatory framework.
Develop a detailed regulatory framework that aligns with IFRS Sustainability Standards, ensuring it is adaptable to the local context.
Draft guidelines and documentation that outline the requirements for sustainability reporting in Mongolia.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on the new regulatory framework and its implications.
Provide ongoing support and advice to UNDP and stakeholders during the implementation phase of the framework.
Prepare and submit progress reports to UNDP, detailing the development process and any challenges encountered.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in sustainability reporting and regulatory frameworks, particularly in relation to IFRS Sustainability Standards.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex regulatory environments and propose effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and consultation.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Familiarity with the Mongolian regulatory landscape and sustainability challenges is an advantage.
Educational Background: A master's degree or higher in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in sustainability reporting or regulatory compliance will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sustainability reporting, regulatory framework development, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in developing countries, is highly desirable. Previous experience in consulting roles or project management will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Mongolian or other local languages is considered an asset but not required.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 20 working days. The consultant is expected to work remotely, with potential travel to Mongolia if necessary for stakeholder consultations. The position is part-time, and the consultant will be compensated based on the agreed contract terms.
