Job Overview: The Programme Support Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the FAO Representation in Sudan, particularly in resource mobilization, donor relations, and programming support. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the Operations Team and project managers to ensure effective implementation of programs sponsored by China and other donors. The specialist will be responsible for drafting proposals, negotiating funding agreements, and preparing various written outputs, including reports and analyses. The role demands strong communication skills and the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders to promote FAO's initiatives and ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Support Specialist include:
Supporting the formulation, drafting, and writing of project proposals and related documents, particularly for programs sponsored by China.
Assisting the FAO Representation in negotiating funding agreements and maintaining regular contact with donors.
Participating in meetings with donors and supporting the country office in reporting, ensuring clarity in both financial and narrative aspects.
Collaborating with communication teams to organize marketing and outreach activities related to FAO projects.
Preparing various written outputs, such as background papers, analyses, sections of reports, and inputs for publications.
Supporting the delegation during study tours and preparing specifications for required inputs as outlined in project documents.
Translating documents from Chinese to English and assisting in reporting.
Performing other related duties as required to support the country office's objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in livestock, veterinary, fishery production, agriculture, or international relations. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in program and technical extension work is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of project management and possess the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with FAO's core mandated areas is considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as livestock, veterinary science, fishery production, agriculture, or international relations. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of food security and agricultural development.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of related professional experience, particularly in program and technical extension work.
