Job Overview: The position of Assistant(e) au Programme at UN Women involves providing comprehensive programmatic, administrative, financial, and logistical support to the organization. The assistant will work directly under the supervision of the Gender Expert in Governance and Women's Political Participation, based in Nouakchott. The role is crucial for ensuring the delivery of quality services while adhering to administrative processes and internal operational procedures of UN Women. The assistant will be responsible for supporting the formulation and management of programs, which includes preparing work plans, budgets, and proposals, as well as monitoring fund distribution. The position also entails assisting in financial management, organizing logistical arrangements for meetings and events, and facilitating knowledge sharing and training for staff and partners on program-related issues. This role is integral to the successful implementation of UN Women’s initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in Mauritania.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and logistical support for program formulation and management, including assistance in preparing work plans, budgets, and implementation proposals, as well as monitoring fund distribution.
Support the financial management of the program unit by tracking and preparing budgets and finances for programs/projects, preparing FACE forms, and processing payments for consultants.
Undertake logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for organizing meetings, workshops, events, and missions, including travel preparations for the program team.
Assist in resource mobilization by organizing and compiling documentation and information for donors and the program team.
Facilitate knowledge development and sharing by supporting the organization of training for office staff and partners on program and operational issues. Key performance indicators include timely and accurate administrative and logistical support for events, compliance with UN Women’s administrative rules and regulations, and quality maintenance of internal systems and files.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary education level as a minimum requirement. A bachelor's degree in project management, finance, accounting, agro-economics, or a related field is a significant advantage. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong administrative and operational support skills, particularly in the context of development programs. Knowledge of the political landscape and legal framework in Mauritania is also essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of secondary education. A bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as project management, finance, accounting, or agro-economics is highly desirable and considered a major asset for applicants.
Experience: Candidates should have at least six years of proven experience in operational administration/finance or support within large development programs.
