Job Overview: The ICT Support Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive information and communication technology (ICT) support for the IOM mission in Pohnpei and its remote sub-offices across the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. This role involves installing, configuring, implementing, and administering network connectivity, including LAN, WAN, wireless access, and VPN. The incumbent will assist in planning and developing IT networks and system infrastructure, ensuring consistent service accountability and recommending necessary upgrades. The position requires producing and maintaining comprehensive ICT documentation and addressing user support requests promptly. The specialist will also support the implementation of IOM ICT standards and policies, provide IT training to staff and end users, and ensure compliance with IOM’s policies, including those related to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and respectful work environments. Daily monitoring and maintenance of systems and networks will be essential to ensure uninterrupted service of mission-critical ICT systems, along with administering the SharePoint Online site and liaising with service providers for adequate IT services.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ICT Support Specialist include:
Installing, configuring, and administering network connectivity (LAN/WAN/Wireless access/VPN).
Assisting in the planning and development of IT networks and system infrastructure, including telecoms.
Producing and maintaining comprehensive ICT documentation and reference materials.
Addressing user support requests in a timely manner.
Supporting the implementation of IOM ICT standards, policies, and guidelines.
Providing IT training to staff and end users.
Guiding end users on security issues such as phishing and malware.
Monitoring and maintaining systems and networks to ensure uninterrupted service.
Administering and configuring the SharePoint Online site. 1
Liaising with service providers for IT services and supplies. 1
Maintaining an up-to-date ICT inventory and informing supervisors about asset replacements and software renewals. 1
Undertaking duty travel as required. 1

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the ICT Support Specialist position include:
A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field with at least four years of relevant work experience; or a high school diploma with at least six years of relevant work experience.
Familiarity with networking environments (LAN/WAN) and troubleshooting computer and communication equipment.
Experience in a Microsoft Active Directory domain environment and with Windows-based servers.
Knowledge of cloud computing environments, specifically Microsoft Azure, is an advantage.
Certifications such as CCNA, MCP (Windows/Exchange Server), and/or MCSA/MSCE are considered a distinctive advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a computer-related major. Alternatively, a high school diploma is acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant work experience, specifically six years or more in the field.
Experience: The position requires at least four years of relevant work experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or six years for those with a high school diploma. Experience in IT support, particularly in networking environments and user support, is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft tools and cloud computing is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for all applicants. Additionally, a working knowledge of any Micronesian languages is considered an advantage, enhancing communication within the local context.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates with a valid residence and work permit for the Federated States of Micronesia will be considered. The appointment will depend on the candidate's medical fitness, residency visa verification, and government authorizations where applicable. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for similar roles for 24 months.
