Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in developing the Strategic Note (SN) for UN Women ROAP for the period 2026-202
This involves conducting a comprehensive desk review of UN Women’s policies and procedures to ensure that the SN aligns with corporate requirements. The consultant will work closely with the Head of Planning, Monitoring and Reporting Unit (PMRU), the Regional Director, and other relevant units to develop high-quality documents. The role requires conducting a socio-economic and political context analysis from a gender perspective, facilitating workshops, and gathering input from stakeholders. The consultant will compile a comprehensive SN package that includes an Integrated Results and Resource Framework (IRRF), partnership plans, and a social and environmental scan. The consultant will also support the quality assurance process for the SN and be responsible for drafting reports and presentations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive desk review of UN Women’s policies and procedures to prepare for the SN development.
Finalize a detailed methodology and roadmap with clearly defined actions, timelines, and processes for the SN development.
Conduct a socio-economic and political context analysis for the Asia-Pacific region from a gender perspective.
Facilitate workshops and conduct interviews with key stakeholders to gather relevant information.
Compile a ROAP SN package with input from thematic units, including the SN narrative, IRRF, and other necessary documents.
Support the quality assurance process by drafting presentations and addressing feedback from UN Women HQ.
Draft an SN brochure and a final consultancy report at the end of the consultancy period.
A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
A minimum of 10 years of international experience in analytical work, strategic planning, and results-based management in gender equality and international development.
Proven expertise in gender statistics and conducting critical gender analysis.
Experience in producing high-quality analytical reports and strategic planning documents for international organizations, preferably with UN agencies.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as international relations, gender studies, sociology, business administration, economics, or law. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of international experience in analytical work, strategic planning, and results-based management, specifically in the areas of gender equality and international development. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in producing high-quality analytical reports and strategic planning documents, preferably for international organizations, including UN agencies.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: This is a home-based consultancy position, with potential travel to Bangkok, Thailand, during the SN drafting period, with travel costs covered by UN Women.
