In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment: > Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) > International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) > Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI) > United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) The main roles of UN Women are: > To support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms. > To help Member States to implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society. > To lead and coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.

The organization has a significant presence in Georgia, focusing on policies, legislation, and grassroots initiatives to improve the rights and well-being of women and girls. UN Women Georgia has been implementing social mobilization methodologies since 2010, adapting successful practices from other countries to engage women in social activism and economic empowerment.

Job Overview:
The National Consultant position is crucial for enhancing the capacities of UN Women partner civil society organizations (CSOs) in Georgia through the development and implementation of a comprehensive Social Mobilization training module. The consultant will be responsible for updating existing methodologies and guidelines based on recent international best practices, creating a tailored training program in the Georgian language, and conducting a three-day training session for partner CSOs. This role requires a deep understanding of Social Mobilization methodologies and the ability to engage with vulnerable women in grassroots communities. The consultant will work closely with the UN Women Georgia Country Office to ensure that the training meets the needs of the target audience and aligns with UN Women’s objectives for gender equality and women's empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Consultants will undertake several key responsibilities, including: conducting an inception meeting with UN Women representatives to refine the training outline; performing a desk review of recent developments in Social Mobilization methodology; updating existing methodologies and guidelines based on this review; developing a comprehensive training module that includes handouts, case studies, and assessment tools; and delivering a three-day training session for UN Women partner CSOs. Additionally, the consultants will be expected to provide a detailed training report that outlines challenges faced, key takeaways, and lessons learned from the training process. All activities will be conducted under the direct supervision of the UN Women Georgia Country Office Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Analyst.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, preferably a Master’s or equivalent, in fields such as Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Political Studies, Public Policy, or Social Policy. In addition, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in implementing Social Mobilization methodologies and working at the grassroots level with rural women. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with seven years of experience may be accepted. Experience in developing training materials and conducting training sessions is also required, along with a strong background in gender equality, gender mainstreaming, and women's empowerment issues. Excellent writing, reporting, and communication skills are essential, as is familiarity with human rights terminology and Social Mobilization methodologies.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a university degree, with a preference for a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Political Studies, Public Policy, or Social Policy. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered if they have additional qualifying experience. The educational background should be complemented by practical experience in the field, particularly in relation to gender equality and women's empowerment.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of experience in the practical implementation of Social Mobilization methodologies, particularly at the grassroots level with rural women. Candidates with a first-level university degree must have at least seven years of similar experience. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in developing training materials and conducting training sessions, as well as experience in gender equality and women's empowerment issues. Previous experience in conducting Training of Trainers sessions will be considered a strong asset.

Languages:
Proficiency in both English and Georgian is mandatory for this position. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages, as the training materials and sessions will be conducted in Georgian, while reports and documentation may require English proficiency.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy is home-based, but it will require at least one trip to a region in Georgia for training purposes. The contract duration is linked to specific deliverables with deadlines extending into June 202
