Job Overview: The Consultant for the NAITS Project will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and delivery of the project GCP/GEO/021/MUL, which aims to enhance food safety and the competitiveness of the livestock sector in Georgia. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government institutions and donor agencies, to ensure the successful execution of project objectives. The Consultant will assist in the formulation and implementation of FAO programs related to animal health and production, contributing to the overall mission of improving food security and agricultural practices in the region. The role demands a proactive approach to project management, technical support, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that all activities align with FAO's strategic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Providing technical support in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the NAITS project.
Reviewing project-related documents and reports, identifying priorities, and liaising with relevant stakeholders to determine follow-up actions.
Preparing various written outputs related to the project, such as reports, background papers, and analysis papers.
Assisting in leading consultative meetings with stakeholders, including donor and government institutions in the animal production and health sector.
Planning and organizing conferences, seminars, study tours, and training workshops, including developing agendas, identifying participants, and preparing event reports and presentations.
Offering technical advice on the development of policies and strategies in the animal production and health sector.
Performing other related tasks as required to support the project and the FAO Representation in Georgia.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in veterinary medicine, livestock production, or a related discipline. Those with a bachelor's degree must have two additional years of relevant professional experience. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of relevant work experience in technical cooperation-related activities, policy advice, and analysis related to food safety, animal production, and health. A working knowledge of the English language is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in veterinary medicine, livestock production, or any other relevant discipline recognized by the IAU/UNESCO. Candidates with a bachelor's degree must have additional professional experience to qualify for the role, emphasizing the importance of formal education in the field of animal health and production.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in areas such as technical cooperation, policy advice, and analysis related to food safety and animal health. Experience in working with inter-governmental bodies and multi-disciplinary teams is highly desirable, as is experience in field positions across various locations or areas of work.
Languages: A working knowledge of the English language is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the stakeholders involved in the project.
