Job Overview: The Project Manager will play a crucial role in the management and implementation of the project titled 'Building Resilient Future for Migration-Prone Populations in Georgia.' This project aims to enhance migration governance through innovative solutions and partnerships with the private sector. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), ensuring effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including partners, beneficiaries, and government entities. The role requires strategic guidance and operational oversight to align project activities with IOM policies and donor requirements. The Project Manager will also be involved in monitoring and reporting on project progress, identifying gaps, and suggesting improvements to enhance project implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager's duties include managing the overall project lifecycle, from planning to execution and evaluation. Key responsibilities involve coordinating the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The Project Manager will lead the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, and monitoring tools. They will also oversee data collection and analysis, ensuring timely updates to information management systems and social media platforms. Additionally, the Project Manager will prepare and disseminate project reports, liaise with donors and partners, and contribute to capacity-building activities for IOM staff and stakeholders. The Project Manager may also undertake duty travel for project-related activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Climate Change, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Master's degree in the aforementioned fields is acceptable. The position requires proven professional experience in environment and climate change, particularly in relation to migration or displacement, as well as experience in project management and coordination within international organizations or NGOs. Candidates should have experience liaising with governmental authorities and working with vulnerable groups, including migrants and refugees. Familiarity with labor migration and skills development is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Environmental Studies, Climate Change, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related disciplines. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A Master's degree in the same fields is also acceptable and may substitute for the required professional experience.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a solid background in project management, with demonstrated experience in coordinating and implementing projects within international organizations, UN agencies, or NGOs. Experience in working with governmental authorities and engaging with various stakeholders is essential. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations, as well as experience in labor migration and skills development, which is considered an advantage. Prior experience in a multicultural setting, particularly with international humanitarian organizations, is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Georgian is required for this position, both oral and written. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but proficiency in English and Georgian is mandatory for effective communication within the context of this role.
Additional Notes: The selection process for this position is subject to funding confirmation, and the process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. National Professional Officers must be nationals of the country of employment and perform work at the professional level, adhering to the same recruitment qualifications and performance standards as International Professional staff. Appointment is contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, and necessary government authorizations.
