Job Overview:
The GBVIMS Information Management Officer (IMO) will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and coordination of the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) in Nigeria. This position is vital for ensuring that data related to GBV incidents is collected, stored, analyzed, and shared in a safe and ethical manner. The IMO will work closely with various stakeholders, including Data Gathering Organizations (DGOs), to enhance their capacity in data management and reporting. The role requires a strong commitment to ethical standards and the ability to navigate complex humanitarian settings. The IMO will be responsible for providing technical assistance, conducting training, and ensuring the quality of data collected. This position is full-time and is expected to last for nine months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The GBVIMS IMO will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
  • Capacity Building: Supporting organizations in the effective use of GBVIMS through assessments, technical support, and training. Identifying capacity building needs and collaborating with the GBV Sub-Sector and GBVIMS Technical Team to address these needs.
  • Data Processing and Analysis: Consolidating monthly reports from DGOs, conducting data quality checks, and preparing national monthly reports. Drafting analytical narratives and supporting quarterly data analysis for operational and technical working groups.
  • Advocacy Support: Producing infographics for dissemination during meetings with donors and partners, and participating in the development of situational reports.
  • User Management: Managing access and user roles within the GBVIMS+ system, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with the Information Sharing Protocol.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Conducting biannual reviews of user configurations and supporting global monitoring activities.
  • Reporting: Regularly reporting to the GBV Sub-Sector Coordinator and participating in coordination meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Gender Studies, Social Work, Demography, Social Science, International Development, or related fields. They should have at least 5 years of experience in GBV-related activities, with a strong understanding of data management and ethical considerations in handling sensitive information. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in GIS mapping and Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience with information management systems is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to multitask, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Gender Studies, Social Work, Demography, Social Science, or International Development is required. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of gender-based violence and the importance of effective data management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in GBV-related activities. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in humanitarian settings, particularly in roles that involve data collection, analysis, and reporting. Experience in capacity building and training is also highly valued, as the IMO will be responsible for enhancing the skills of various stakeholders in the GBVIMS framework.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of other major local languages in Nigeria is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the GBVIMS implementation.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy assignment is a full-time position for a duration of nine months, specifically targeting Nigerian Nationals. The consultant will be based in the UNFPA Maiduguri Sub-Office and will be required to travel periodically to project sites across the country.
