Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the field base in Mykolayiv, Ukraine. This role involves direct supervision by the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and close coordination with the Deputy Country Director for Programs. The Field Coordinator is tasked with implementing the global strategy for the area of intervention, representing the organization in local forums, and managing key personnel including the Logistics, Human Resources, and Finance managers. The position also includes overseeing the Deputy Field Coordinator for programs, aimed at enhancing the quality of programming through a better understanding of the local context. The role is critical in rolling out new programmatic and operational strategies, particularly in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, which has seen significant displacement and needs for aid.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall management of the field base, ensuring effective operations and adherence to SI's strategic objectives.
  • Direct supervision of the LOG, HR, and FIN managers, as well as the Field Coordinator assistant and Deputy Field Coordinator for programs.
  • Representation of SI in local coordination groups and forums to advocate for the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Implementation of new projects and strategies, including BHA 2, CDCS/AFD, and FAP.
  • Coordination of the harmonization and streamlining of institutional tools and procedures.
  • Addressing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security constraints and ensuring the safety of staff and operations in Mykolayiv.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local stakeholders and partners to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Monitoring and evaluating program impact and making necessary adjustments to strategies and operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Humanitarian Management, Project Management, or Security Management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a preference for candidates who have held similar positions.
  • Proven technical skills in HR management, security management, and strategy management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and needs.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Humanitarian Management, Project Management, or Security Management. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and the strategic management of projects in crisis situations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector. Candidates with prior experience in a similar role will be given preference, as this experience is crucial for effectively managing the field base and implementing the organization's strategies in a high-pressure environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Ukrainian is considered an asset, and proficiency in Russian is also advantageous, as it may facilitate communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a short-term contract position with a duration of 6 months, starting as soon as possible. The role is based in Mykolayiv, Ukraine, and involves a salaried position starting from EUR 3080 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a monthly Per Diem. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses for expatriates. The organization implements a system of breaks during assignments, allowing for time off every three months, along with additional rest days. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Mykolayiv are described as comfortable, with access to various amenities and a supportive expatriate community.
