Job Overview: The UNFPA Representative leads a country office team in the design and implementation of a comprehensive population and development program, with a strong emphasis on sexual and reproductive health. This role involves establishing partnerships with various stakeholders, including governments, UN agencies, and civil society, to ensure the successful realization of the 2030 Agenda. The Representative is responsible for promoting UNFPA's mandate and integrating sexual and reproductive health issues into national development agendas. The Representative is accountable for the effective management of the Country Programme, ensuring alignment with UNFPA's strategic plan and addressing the needs of marginalized populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the UNFPA Representative include:
Strategic Direction, Planning, and Management: Lead the positioning of UNFPA on strategic issues in the country, build institutional relationships with key stakeholders, establish priorities for the Country Office, and develop a strategic plan for humanitarian actions.
Management of Resources: Oversee international and national staff, foster a culture of growth and development, attract and retain high-caliber staff, and ensure compliance with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards.
Programme Leadership and Representation: Advise senior management on country-level issues, engage national counterparts through advocacy, represent UNFPA in inter-agency teams, and drive accountability for humanitarian response plans.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a postgraduate university degree in disciplines such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, or Public Administration. Additionally, candidates should have 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with at least 10 years in population and development, sexual and reproductive health, or humanitarian contexts. Proven leadership abilities, experience in advocacy and policy dialogue, and a commitment to UNFPA's principles are essential.
Educational Background: A postgraduate university degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, or Public Administration is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of population and development issues and for effectively leading programs that address these challenges.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 15 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development, with at least 10 years specifically in the fields of population and development, sexual and reproductive health, or humanitarian work at the international level. Field experience is essential, particularly in developing or crisis contexts, and candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to lead teams and achieve high-quality results.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the organization and with external partners. Proficiency in any other UN language is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
