Job Overview: The Logistics Assistant position is crucial for ensuring the effective management of logistics operations within the NRC's Mozambique program. The role involves implementing logistics functions according to the Plan of Action, adhering to NRC policies, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. The Logistics Assistant will be responsible for daily operational logistics activities, supporting resource administration, and preparing logistic reports as required by the Country Office. This position requires a proactive approach to logistics management, ensuring that all activities are conducted within set budgets, timelines, and standards. The Logistics Assistant will also play a key role in fleet management, stock management, and providing logistical support for various administrative needs within the office and field operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Assistant will have a diverse range of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Fleet Management: Overseeing the proper management and utilization of the fleet at the Area Office, coordinating with program staff to prepare monthly movement plans, liaising with vehicle rental firms, ensuring timely fueling of vehicles, and maintaining accurate vehicle records.
Stock Management: Ensuring compliance with the Logistics Handbook and SOPs, maintaining accurate stock records, generating monthly stock reports, and managing office supplies and consumables.
Administrative Support: Assisting with the transportation of materials, processing payments related to logistics and office administration, coordinating with landlords for property maintenance, and supporting the organization of official events and meetings.
Reporting: Preparing and developing logistic reports as required, ensuring proper filing of support documents, and promoting ideas for improving logistics functions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in logistics or supply chain management. A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field is required. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities are essential, along with a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory. Candidates should also demonstrate knowledge of their own leadership skills and profile, as well as experience in the humanitarian sector or a relevant background.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a relevant field. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and ensuring compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management. Experience in the humanitarian sector is highly desirable, as it provides valuable insights into the unique challenges and requirements of logistics in crisis situations. Candidates with a background in logistics management within similar organizations will be preferred.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, both written and verbal. Additionally, knowledge of local languages spoken in Cabo Delgado, such as Makonde, Emacua, Kimuani, and Suwaili, is considered an asset and may enhance communication and effectiveness in the role.
