Job Overview: The Junior Policy Analyst position at the OECD involves supporting the implementation of various projects focused on economic resilience and development in fragile contexts, specifically in Yemen and Libya. The role requires collaboration with the Head of the OECD Middle East & Africa Division and entails coordinating activities, conducting research, and providing analytical inputs on economic policies. The analyst will be expected to assist in organizing workshops, drafting reports, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of project initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Junior Policy Analyst include:
Supporting the implementation of OECD projects in Yemen and Libya by coordinating activities, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and organizing project-related events.
Conducting research and drafting analytical papers on economic resilience and private sector development in fragile contexts, including analyzing developments in Libya and Yemen.
Contributing to public-private dialogue initiatives by researching models and synthesizing best practices relevant to economic governance and competitiveness in the MENA region.
Assisting in donor reporting and documenting project milestones, as well as preparing briefing notes and background papers for various OECD engagements.
Engaging in stakeholder mapping and needs assessments to inform project activities and ensure alignment with beneficiary needs.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Junior Policy Analyst position should possess an advanced university degree in law, economics, economic development, public policy, or international relations. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in international organizations, ministries, or private sector firms, particularly in economic development and private sector policy areas. Knowledge of the MENA region's economic policies and challenges, especially in fragile contexts, is essential. Strong drafting skills and the ability to communicate complex material clearly to diverse audiences are also required, along with good interpersonal skills for effective teamwork in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must have an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as law, economics, economic development, public policy, or international relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of economic policies and development strategies in the context of the OECD's work.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, ideally within international organizations, government ministries, or leading consulting firms. Experience working on economic policies in the MENA region, particularly in conflict-affected countries, is highly advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of economic development and private sector challenges in fragile contexts.
Languages: Fluency in one of the two official OECD languages, English or French, is mandatory, along with a commitment to achieving a good working level in the other language. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with stakeholders in the MENA region.
