SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Development and Communication department, which consists of 22 members. The intern will report directly to the Editorial Coordinator and collaborate with the Press Relations Officer. The primary function of this role is to support the communication service in editorial production and press relations. The intern will assist in the creation of editorial content and the development of publications, which includes data collection, conducting interviews, and information research. The intern will also be responsible for writing articles, publications, web content, press releases, press kits, and press reviews. Additionally, the intern will engage in editorial secretarial tasks such as proofreading, revising, and correcting editorial content. The role also involves updating web content in collaboration with other departments, transcribing videos, sourcing iconographic material, managing translation needs for web articles, and following new trends to propose editorial ideas. Participation in service reflections and meetings is also expected.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the production of editorial content and the development of publications, including data collection, interviews, and information research.
  • Write articles, publications, web content, press releases, press kits, and press reviews.
  • Perform editorial secretarial tasks such as proofreading, revising, and correcting editorial content.
  • Support the updating of web content in collaboration with other departments.
  • Transcribe videos and source iconographic material.
  • Manage translation needs for web articles.
  • Follow new trends and propose editorial ideas.
  • Participate in service reflections and meetings.
  • Support the Press Relations Officer in managing press relations, including organizing interview requests, gathering information, and following up on interviews. 1
  • Collect press coverage, track, and update the central document of press coverage. 1
  • Identify journalists and media outlets, creating lists using the press relations management tool (Luqi). 1
  • Support press relations on social media by identifying journalists/accounts, tracking mentions, and monitoring trends. 1
  • Occasionally assist in organizing internal or external events such as debates, press conferences, and screenings. 1
  • Analyze press coverage and create ad hoc press reviews. 1
  • Participate in crisis communication, especially during humanitarian emergencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher education qualification (minimum bac +3) in journalism, communication, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or humanitarian project management. They should have excellent writing skills and be fluent in both French and English, both written and spoken. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and synthesis capabilities, autonomy, rigor, organization, and efficiency. A team spirit and genuine interest and motivation for the non-profit and humanitarian sector are essential. Proficiency in computer applications such as Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet and social media, and email (Outlook) is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bac +3 level qualification in fields such as journalism, communication, international law, or humanitarian project management. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication within a humanitarian context and for effectively contributing to the organization's communication strategies.

Experience:
The position is an internship, and while prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience in communication, journalism, or humanitarian work will be considered an asset. The intern should be eager to learn and develop their skills in a professional environment, particularly in the context of humanitarian aid and communication.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is mandatory for this position, both in written and oral communication. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, enhancing the intern's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and audiences.

Additional Notes:
This internship is based at the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy (92), accessible via the Mairie de Clichy metro station. The internship is subject to an obligatory internship agreement. The compensation for the internship is set at 4.70 euros per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked each month (approximately 154 hours per month, equating to 22 days of 7 hours each). Public transport costs will be reimbursed at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL. Additionally, interns will receive meal vouchers valued at 8.90 euros per day worked, with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL contributing 60%. The internship offers valuable insights into the functioning of an NGO's headquarters and its relationship with field operations, exposure to various roles within SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL, and an understanding of humanitarian issues faced by the organization and its partners. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in the implementation of the NGO's communication strategy and enhance their editorial skills while working in a multicultural environment.
