Job Overview:
The Canine Caretaker position is crucial for improving the overall security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of the compound through the well-being of K9 dogs. The caretaker will be responsible for overseeing the health and general care of all canines, ensuring they are well-fed, clean, and emotionally supported. This role requires collaboration with Security officers in the Canine Unit to enhance the dogs' physical and emotional well-being. The caretaker will also be expected to maintain cleanliness in the kennels and surrounding areas, adhering to strict protocols to prevent cross-contamination and promote health. The position is expected to last for three months, during which the caretaker will play a vital role in the security framework of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Canine Caretaker include: feeding the dogs and monitoring their eating habits, reporting any fluctuations in appetite; cleaning kennels, crates, runs, and dishes; bathing and brushing dogs as needed; promptly scooping and disposing of dog waste; mopping up accidents and maintaining cleanliness in the facility; dust mopping and wet mopping floors as assigned; removing trash from containers; disinfecting outside areas; following all procedures to decrease cross-contamination; working closely with the canine Supervisor and Officers to enhance the dogs' well-being; treating all animals with kindness and respect; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a high school diploma as a minimum educational qualification. Candidates should possess at least one year of previous work experience in a cleaning service, preferably within a UN context. Experience in animal care is considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate good oral communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work independently, and have the ability to follow instructions and learn new tasks. Teamwork skills, flexibility, and coping skills are essential, as is a willingness to work on weekends and holidays.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed high school education. This educational background is essential for understanding the responsibilities and duties associated with the care of canines and maintaining cleanliness in the work environment.

Experience:
A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required, particularly in cleaning services. Previous experience in animal care is advantageous, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to handle and care for animals effectively. The experience should ideally be in a similar environment, such as the United Nations or other international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language within the organization. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication within the team and with other stakeholders.
